What I all do at SBR Sport.

My name is Mike. This is a breakdown of what I do at SBR Sport.

I am the owner of SBR Sport. My business is situated in the Moove Gym Complex in Sunninghill, Sandton.

My day is broken up doing two primary things.

  1. Runner’s Leg Assessments and Mini Assessments.
    I developed these years ago as a way of addressing running injuries.

The Runner’s Leg Assessment is aimed at people who are either battling with an injury, or, who are looking to up their running and are wanting as much a possible to avoid an injury. Some runners with an injury will come back for a few sessions of myofascial release and dry needling as a way of speeding up recovery. https://sbrsport.co.za/?p=188
The Mini Assessment is aimed at people wanting to know which shoes to look at. Plus, a few pointers are given during the 30 mins that should improve their running.

2.Coaching Athletes. Some are looking to speed up a bit and others are looking at scooping up podiums. Some are training for shorter distances, some for runs such as Comrades. The two main focuses are on road runners and triathletes. Coaching programs are written on a weekly basis and are posted on Training Peaks. I come from a background of studying Kinesiology, Myofascial Release Techniques and Sport Science. More than that I started running and cycling at 15 and then added swimming into the mix a few years later. I have run all major distances from 5 km to Comrades, completed 5 Transbaviaans Mountain Bike races, swum 86 Midmar Miles – a number of them as a member of the 8 Mile Club and have completed numerous triathlons from Sprint all the way to Full IM distances.
